Cha ching,
It is great. I am in the yard with my grankids, I can hear every word they say and my granddaughter loves the birds AND we both now can hear them!!
till yesterday it seems my world was very quiet.
my kids and friends kept telling me you are so hard of hearing.
finally i got tired of asking them to repeat what they had just said.

BluesBrothers,
Up until yesterday not much of anything was very loud to me. LOL.
My daughter just graduated with a degree for deaf education and when my hearing test was completed I sent her a copy. Her response Mom if you were an elementary student they would go straight to American Sign Language and you would be eligible for the School for the Hearing Impaired.

Thank you Millie,
The greatest part was taking my 2 two year old grandkids to the appointment (they waited in reception area) it was their voices I wanted first. What a delight to truly hear them and take them out to eat.

I know the dropped pot feeling. When they used the ice maker yesterday that was just to much BUT it has always made that noise Mom. Haha not in my world of sound.
I am loving hearing the voices again.

My only option was a Baha which is a titanium rod in the bone behind the ear because of all the damage to the ear canal and the ear drum. After the rod attached to the bone which took one month, they gave me the Baha which snaps on and off. This works as a hearing device.
WOW, now I can hear people around me talking very clearly BUT wait now they are laughing because I have discovered the world is not silent. The cafeteria has very noisy trays they clang, people make lots of noise in a cafeteria. We then went to a shopping center and parked the car when we got out of the car WOW all those cars going by are not as quiet as they used to be!! They are loud!! Then we went home -- it used to be this really quiet place. First I encountered the pool guy great now I will be able to hear him never could before. He has one powerful voice I heard him c l ear inside the house. LOL. Next came the lawn guy with his big machine, that is one LOUD piece of equipment. I used to sit outside while he cut the grass thinking that is one quiet mower.
So we are all sitting in the house and I am still trying to adjust to some of these sounds when something all of sudden goes away. I asked what just cut off or whatever noise just went away? The air conditioning just turned off. Ahhhh it makes that sound all the time? Then when my back was turned someone decided to get ice from the ice maker!!!! OK, I am not sure if I am ready for all this noise. I think I liked my quiet world this is definitely going to take some getting used to!!!
so in an effort to relieve some pressure here are what i term the low-lites of yesterday's assembly that i had to endure for the sake of family still in and my progressing fade.
apologies in advance for being pretty long winded.. these may not all be the actual words used, but the ones i use are close, and they pretty well say what was said from the platform.. right off the bat in the opening prayer the praises of the governing body were spoken.
thanking the g.b.
Never a JW but I am not sure that watching the news is a new thing because when I would mention news events to the "Elder " I would get responses like oh no I didn't see that but normally I only have the weather channel on.
so for those that are fading, i have been fading for almost 6 months now.
havent been to a meeting, assembly, service, etc.
i no longer believe it is the truth.. how long did you wait before celebrating holidays, if in fact you are even celebrating them.
Never a JW, I cannot imagine not decorating the house for any of the holidays BUT for Christmas NOW that requires an entire house transformation. When I moved from up north and my son and future dil were helping unload the PODS she commented there seems to be 4 Christmas trees here and an excessive amount of very large boxes marked Christmas decorations. My son's reply "you just wait". Then she came across a box that said Christmas Birds. She said "Dear I am afraid these will not be alive stuck in this large box for this long."
When December finally came and I started putting up decorations she could not believe it. She allows my grandkids near the Christmas tree in the family room. She carries her kids through the living room, she is still scared to allow them anywhere near that tree, actually she won't walk up close to it. Her comment was that is just to must crystal.
I put up a full Nativity. I full town with train set. Then there are flower arrangements on every surface in the house. Plus huge wreaths on the outside of the house. When my kids were small they had their own small trees in their bedrooms.
I just love decorating!!! It is not just the holidays. I constantly change the decorations in my home. Otherwise it would get boring.
And yes I would tell the "Elder" about my decorating for the holidays every year. His only comment was before I converted we would put up a lot of decorations.
Compare it to Herd's wonderful (not) speech about the size of a woman's brain.
Or Morris' tight pants.
They are all cringe worthy, they have not changed since the 1930's maybe just their target.
i'd love to see you're favorite wt illustrations/photo's that they think are fine to print - but are actually kind of creepy/wierd.. .
here's my three fave from my book of bible stories (yes, a book for children!)..
man gets his head nailed into the floor with a tent pin by a good jehovah worshipper:.
Pale.emperor,
Never a JW, I lost control when the "Elder" gave me the book on Families to see how I would react.
I am totally outright speechless if these are drawings in a children's book. I have no clue what to say about the amount of damage this could cause to a little child. I have viewed my outsiders opinion many times on Sophia and Caleb videos, the meeting agendas and many other JW abusive practices BUT this is OUT OF CONTROL!!!!
My advise to you make positively sure that your attorney has viewed this BOOK, some of these cartoons and the videos from this past RC when it comes to your custody hearing for your daughter. If nothing else if I were you I would insist that my daughter NOT, NOT in no way be subjected to this cruel cult oops religion! !!
These idiots have no idea of the term Age Appropriate. Hey, those out there that they refer to as Worldly run by Satans system has a rating system starts out G general viewing, PG parental guidance, and so forth. At the KH they just start b their babies watching R's and worse.
OK, rant over. KH = MEN'S ONLY CLUB
who else as a result of being a jw has been cynical of relationships..
Nonjwspouse,
You hit the nail on the head with one word "trust". Never a JW but the victim of both childhood and spouse abuse I find it extremely hard to "trust" people. It takes me a long time before I will finally actually say I trust someone.
